“WITH WE WENT FROM THE PAPER TO REAL TIME ANALYSIS AND, OF COURSE, WE IMPROVED OUR EFFICIENCY IN OUR RESPONSE TIMES TO EMERGENCIES RELATED TO OUR LINE OF WORK”
Background
- Back in the year 2013, the company had no real time data on their water production wells and drinking water treatment plants. Additionally, they had no immediate notifications triggered by the detection of operational failures in their facilities.
- In 2019, following the serious and continuous water situation in the country, the General Direction of Waters (DGA) dictated Resolution 1238 that determined the technical conditions and the time frames at a national level to comply with the installation of a monitoring and transmission system of effective groundwater extraction operations.
Challenge
The challenge consisted in finding solutions that could provide real time data on the use of water to support the operational decision-making process.
Specifically:
- Monitoring of the status of components in the production, distribution, and sanitation of water treatment company.
- Tool that could provide historical data for the analysis of trends in the supply and demand of water.
Solution
A single monitoring platform that generates data is developed and an expert team is created for the purpose of analyzing trends in source availability and system failures.
- Integration of data concerning status of components, network flow, source production and collection and treatment of wastewater in a single platform.
- Generation of quantity and quality historical data that is available in a platform that provides data analysis and graphic visualizations.
- Automatic reporting to the DGA, as per the resolution, on critical well variables.
- Availability of a team of analysts specialized in water systems tasked with providing high quality Service and technical expertise.
Solution Specifications
- Web based monitoring platform.
- Easy to access with excellent usability.
- Visualization adapted for computers and mobile devices.
- It allows operators and supervisors in different areas of the operation to have full visibility of the water management system both at all times and remotely.
- Online alert system
Impact
The work carried out by We Techs allowed the following:
1 Counting with a single monitoring platform for comprehensive visibility of the operation of the water treatment company from the production and distribution of drinking water to the collection and treatment of wastewater.
2 Access to historical data and a team of expert analysts for the analysis of the supply availability of the sources and component failures in the system.
3 Automatic reporting to the DGA, as per the resolution, with an uptime of more than 94% on critical well variables for 2022.
4 Reduction of trips to the plants due to the availability of data and an alert system to identify the causes for anomalies detected in the system in a timely manner.
